Hummell is a mother of three and is a photographer for her business, Off the
Wall Photography based in Staunton, VA. Renee started taking photographs back
in 1993 and is now an established wedding and portrait photographer.

In recent years, a new style of wedding photography called photojournalism
has become widely popular amongst newlyweds. Instead of snapping staged shots
throughout the event, I incorporate the posed family portraits with an artist
edge. Primarily as a photojournalistic photographer, I focus on telling the
story of your special day as it unfolds. From the pre-ceremony preparations
to the last dance, I capture the events with wedding photography that elicits
the unique emotions of the wedding experience. Whether it's the bride's
heartfelt hug with her grandpa or the best man's dance with the flower girl,
this style catches the spontaneous and touches moments in an artistic and
unobtrusive way.
I often ask my client to share with me what
photographs they have seen that move them and then we can try to re-create
them. I especially love to re-create the mother of the bride's bridal
portrait with the bride in some way. To set those photographs side by side
and see the generation's preserved in the most beautiful way.
